Shingles

Postby shokanten » Tue Jul 24, 2012 2:39 pm

I read a post about shingles last week but can't find it now. I have had personal experiences with this. In late Dec. 2011, I had the skin lesions of shingles. My husband and I decided that as long as the shingles did not reach my head, face area, I would tough it out without medication. After about three days, I treated myself. Rather than using the TCM diagnosis of wind in the meridians, I decided to treat it as chicken pox, which it is, in latency that manifests as shingles later on. I used only finger needling, no needles and treated the following points bilaterally: Du Mai 14, Lung 7, Large Intestine 4, Kidney 7 . If this did not work, I had back-up points in mind. I was better the next day and it was wrapped up in two weeks. Unfortunately, my son came down with chicken pox but it was very light. Everyone else in the family was fine.

Good result. Is there any difference between what you describe as 'finger needling' and acupressure massage?

No difference--just sounds more serious.
